The funny thing is that when you restore in a proper way the landscape, you will not only restore the Biotic Pump that will provide enough water by restoring the watercycle, but a high biodiverse landscape also contains a healthy soil, which will have a lot of water, when you build these structures you will automatically lower the chance of fires and on top of that by restoring the 'Green Water' cycle you will also increase the cooling capacity of Earth, because the forest will produce very strong sun reflecting clouds and the forests will transport heat upward and release it into space. It helps when you see the great cooling value of nature for doing conservation, it is about managing our (cooling) commons. We in The Netherlands are living under sea level and have institutionalised our commons, we take care of our water management infrastructure by paying a separate water tax and we have a separate election for people who are sitting on the water boards. As long as we don't see the real value of nature and don't know how to incorporate it in our economy it will be hard to maintain our commons.
