Harmony of the Cosmos: What Pythagoras and Hildegard von Bingen Can Teach Us in the Time of Global Pandemic
Today we are going to dialogue with Kayleen Asbo, a cultural historian and composer who weaves myth, music, psychology, history and art with experiential learning. Kayleen wrote her interdisciplinary Ph.D dissertation on Passion and Paradox: The Myths of Mary Magdalene in Music, Art and Culture. She also holds three master's degrees: one each in music (piano performance), mythology and psychology. A faculty member of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music for nineteen years where she taught courses in music and psychology, she has also held posts at the Pacifica Graduate Institute, Dominican University, UC Berkeley's Lifelong Learning Institute and Sonoma State University before founding Mythica- an organization dedicated to bringing beauty, depth and meaning to the world by creating community in workshops, arts events and pilgrimages. Kayleen joined Ubiquity University this summer as a core faculty member of our Wisdom School, where she will be offering online courses for both graduate students and lay learners on the wisdom traditions of the world. This Fall, her courses include Where The Fire and the Rose are One: Dante's Influence on the History of the Western Arts, an Advent series on Art and Music, and a Virtual Pilgrimage in the Footsteps of St Francis.
