Dominic Barter

Dominic Barter collaborates in the design of dialogical social systems, nurturing sustainable, inclusive, adaptable responses to community needs. Beginning in the gang-controlled favelas of Rio de Janeiro in the mid-90s he has partnered with marginalized communities around the world to develop radical innovations in self-determination such as Restorative Circles - community-owned systems for dynamic engagement with conflict, Beta Space - education systems grounded in relational intelligence, Financial Coresponsibility - approaches to ongoing community well-being through dialogical resource distribution, and Empathic Support Systems - sources of connection designed to unblock creative action. A long time student and colleague of the late Dr. Marshall Rosenberg, Dominic served as Board President of the Center for Nonviolent Communication.
