Discovering the history of Nonviolence and seeing it in action around the World.
Nonviolence comes into its own when it comes off the theoretical drawing board into the arena of struggle and cooperation, when it becomes a guiding principle of our life. The enormous, rich history of nonviolence worldwide has long been ignored in education, business, and of course conflict. To recover that history is much more than an academic exercise, however.

- Tom Eddington Tom Eddington is an author, Executive Coach and Business Advisor, and Executive Producer of “The Third Harmony”. He holds an M.S. in Organization Dynamics from the University of Pennsylvania. As a scholar of nonviolence and Conscious Leadership, he is passionate about bringing this work into the world which he does through his coaching and advisory work, film and media projects and Board positions. He is the Managing Director of Eddington Advisory Services.
- Kathy Kelly Kathy Kelly is a peace activist whose efforts have sometimes led her to living in war zones and prisons. She and her companions believe that “where you stand determines what you see." She and an ad hoc circle of internationals have been assisting young Afghans to resettle in safer havens. She co-coordinates the BanKillerDrones.org, is board President of World BEYOND War, (worldbeyondwar.org), and is planning the 2023 Merchants of Death War Crimes Tribunal
- Gilda Bettencourt Gilda Bettencourt's work for & support of Nonviolent Peaceforce goes back to 2001, shortly after NP began to organize itself. At that time, she volunteered with the San Francisco Bay Area NP Chapter and has been part of NP staff since 2004. She has been part of the Board of the Metta Center for Nonviolence since 2005. Gilda was born & raised in the San Francisco Bay Area.
- George Lakey First arrested in the civil rights movement, George has taken important initiatives in the peace, labor, LGBTQ, and climate justice movements while also teaching at the MLK School for Social Change, Swarthmore College, and the University of Pennsylvania. He also taught over 1500 activist workshops on five continents. Now 84, he's published ten movement-related books and is about to release his memoir, Dancing with History: A Life for Peace and Justice.
