   From a Systems Model, there are 'governors' integral and necessary to the 'process-mechanism'.  The economic mechanism is free market capitalism – which as we know can escalate 'out-of-hand'; and that is why that system needs 'governors' that limit and not allow these escalations...   As in Donut Econ, the free market system Must be limited (governed) by Social and Environ Constraints and Values.  If these are in place, then the free market will rightly governed and could actually work alright to serve social and env needs.

   @Annelies: I so resonate with what you write...  I feel that charters, UN agreements and declarations are just not staying within my head anymore.  The "official" response is about the only thing that I seem to find boring nowadays.  I feel, also, that small-scale (within-city) economies that are about our REAL needs, and, especially, politics that are also about OUR real needs, have the chance to make this a truly more beautiful world.  A change in collective consciousness, in our priorities, seems inevitable.

   @jacob, indeed!  Recon Africa is Canadian, and a "promising junior oil and gas company".  And fracking seems to be part of their deal, too.  Regarding best practices, yes, Recon fulfills the official requirements.  I think there lies the deeper problem: the local governments don't seem to care enough about their environment and their people. A trend I've seen in all African (and Southamerican) countries I've got to know in more depth so far.  I'm hoping to get to know about an exeption soon...

   Explanation –

   From a Systems Model, there are 'governors' integral and necessary to the 'process-mechanism'.  The economic mechanism is free market capitalism – which as we know can escalate 'out-of-hand'; and that is why that system needs 'governors' that limit and not allow these escalations...   As in Donut Econ, the free market system Must be limited (governed) by Social and Environ Constraints and Values.  If these are in place, then the free market will rightly governed and could actually work alright to serve social and env needs.       

   In a systems economics, the governing tools are 'econ incentives' – to encourage and help direct the the conomies towards our common Socio-eco Values and Goals. Then, 'econ contraints' are enforced by 'econ penalties' (fines or special taxes, such a climate tax).
