   Today, it seems to me, we’ve been mostly talking about symptoms of our disorder of consciousness.  The root problem is that we have lost the primal mind, the one derived from a radical kind of participatory consciousness where self, world, cosmos, and universal creativity were one.  It dominated for about a million years during the evolution of our hominid and early human ancestors, up until the middle of the last glacial phase of the earth’s cycling climate when Homo sapiens triumphed and domination became the name of the game.  The question is whether or not we can recover and re-energize our old way of knowing, our primal mind.  Barry Cottrell has a very nice article in Minding Nature - Original Participation and the Recovery of the Primal Mind - that addresses this question.  I’ll attach a copy of his paper in the After Chat.
