This session will explore the Kural, a masterpiece from South India that informs us about how to live ethically and exercise power with love.
In South India, the Kural is revered as a guide to practicing goodness and good sense in daily life. Yet this masterpiece of world literature, on par with the Tao Te Ching and the poetry of Rumi, has long lacked translations that make its wisdom available in English. Thomas Hitoshi Pruiksma speaks with Jim Garrison about his new translation, his twenty-year journey to bring it to life, and the Kural's deep relevance for today.
