In 2009, she was awarded the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences for her "analysis of economic governance, especially the commons", which she shared with Oliver E. Williamson. She was the first woman to win the Nobel Prize in Economics.[5]
What is Polycentricity Ostrom?
Ostrom says that a polycentric system is a self- organizing system composed of '(1) many autonomous units formally independent of one another, (2) choosing to act in ways that take into account of others, and (3) through processes of. cooperation, competition, conflict, and conflict resolution.' (
