Shortly after Scott Barry (Puget Sound) will play the Didgeridoo as the Walking Treeman (New York) introduces the tree plantings that will take place on our land here in Patagonia and elsewhere. other activities include a laughing meditation followed by silent meditation, a vegan cooking workshop, and an Shakedown Earth Jump to launch the six month walk/run of Gari Kiyoshi Inoue, around Okinawa, the island of peace, planting trees, vegetables and sugar cAM)e and spreading goodwill through celebrations of food along the way. I was there in 74. Baba Muktananda was asked to give a major talk in the big hall. He was drinking saki all night. I was at their feet taking photos and absorbing the incredible energy and peace. The saki had no effect on his state of being… Great expansion into the University level. :

Thank you, Jane, for bringing up this article and these important considerations. I would say that genuine mindfulness is actually about disruption - disrupting our habitual ways of seeing, of reacting. The "warriorship" of wakefulness, of genuine mindfulness, means that we open our eyes-heart-mind-body to the fullness of experience, which necessarily includes the suffering of human life. We cannot help but be moved, moved within and moved in how we show up in the world. I agree with your estimation that mindfulness without ethics is problematic. But I would say that when we really become mindful we don't transcend into some plateau of detachment, but actually show up more completely to the full catastrophe of human life. The naked, raw, open heart. Would love a further conversation with you on these questions!

Yes, Jane, thank you. As Jordan said, there is certainly a "shadow" of mindfulness. I know that sometimes in schools where mindfulness is taught, it can seem like another technique to keep children quiet, keep them sitting silently. Rather than allowing them to rise into their full, messy, sometimes loud and true expression.
